The National Sun Party (Indonesian''Partai Matahari Bangsa'') is a political party in Indonesia. It contested the 2009 elections.〔''Profil Partai Politik'' (Profile of Political Parties), ''Kompas'' newspaper 14 July 2008 pp. 38-39〕 The party was established by activists from the National Mandate Party (PAN) who were frustrated at the way their path to the leadership was blocked by the older generation. The party was founded by members of the Muhammadiyah, and some senior party members still belong to the organization, as do 75% of party members. The party hopes that younger people will assume leadership of Indonesia in 2014.
